A Study on Relationship between the National Pension Receipt and Economic Activities of Older Adults

|
Using "labor supply model", the purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between the National Pension Receipt and economic activities of Korean older adults. In addition, this research explored if there is a gender difference in the relationship between the National Pension Receipt and economic activities.
The following results were found. First, the status of National Pension receipt was not related with economic activities of Korean older adults. However, by dividing the sample of this study into two groups in terms of benefit levels, a significant relationship between the National Pension receipt and economic activities of Korean older adults was found in only the group receiving above 337,000 won per a month. Second, the significant relationship between the National Pension receipt and economic activities was found among men not women who aged above 61 years old. It is suggested that different approaches in understanding economic activities of older adults may be needed, based on gender.
